Our terracotta is the natural choice for architecture
The trend for natural materials, the development of bioclimatic spaces and the framework of new environmental constraints have propelled terracotta to the forefront of the architectural scene.
Terracotta: passionately supporting sustainable development
Indoors
Honoured by ten centuries of architecture and now more popular than ever, terracotta's 100% environmentally friendly characteristics are what singles it out. No chemicals or pollutants are included in the composition of Rairies Montrieux terracotta. The clay is preserved in natural quarries close to the manufacturing site. It is also cost-effective and hard-wearing, the latter giving it the rare virtue of becoming more beautiful as it ages. Throughout its lifespan, terracotta contributes to indoor comfort by emitting no odours or carcinogenic volatile organic compounds, and by improving heat regulation.
External façades
Rairies Montrieux products can be installed as external insulation, meeting new regulatory requirements on building energy consumption.
Les Rairies terracotta respects the environment:
Protection of resources: from quarry mining to final material recycling, terracotta corresponds to sustainable development criteria and the High Environmental Quality standard. Our company is committed to raw material management and restoration of mining sites at the end of their operational life.
Energy saving: lower energy use and atmospheric emissions, the use of wood for firing tiles, and natural drying methods all enable reduced fossil fuel consumption.
Water recycling: the production site includes a waste water treatment and recycling plant, as part of our zero waste policy and environmentally friendly business approach.
Environmentally friendly waste: legally categorised in 2002 as inert, terracotta is guaranteed non-hazardous to human health or the environment.
